in israel they eat only at night and the best time to catch it is 4-6 am
any way nice fish and very tasty one...

In Cuba I caught a 10lb Barracuda on a panfish rod and reel. It was one hell of a fight!

hahah that one is tiny i was expecting them to be bigger? the only time i got close to one was when i was fishing in cyprus and it was a few meteres from the surface... but it came off the hook :|

I fought a 10LB Barracuda 45 minutes on medium-light tackle (think heavy bass-fishing tackle) and believe me.....he didn't tire out quickly at all. I got him to the boat 5 times and he would strip almost all the line off my reel on a run every time he 'saw' the boat. I saw the spool on my reel on a run and thought he was going to break off. I was in the Army, 20yrs old and in GREAT shape. BUT..after THAT fight...I was ready to sit down and have a damn beer and let my buddy take the next bite.

no it was very alive! They just tire out very quickly, barracuda don't have too much stamina.

Nice! Hey how do you grab this fish? I will be fishing for it soon and besides the gill, is there any special technique? I know of its teeth and I am not going nowhere near it. What can I use as bait? Can you catch it year round?

I usually, pinch with my thumb and index finger around the top of the head where the gill cover ends just behind its eyes. Then with your other hand, if its a bigger fish, support it just under the anal fin. that way you don't put your fingers in its gills if you are planning on letting it go.
Barracuda hit just about any artificial lure thats shiny and rattles. If you are using spinning tackle, rapala x-rap's and F9 minnow work great for me. Good luck!

caught in nasau bahamas "atlantic" although i like to eat this size fish, i already had one for dinner so i let this one go.
