Obama Victory Celebration! Live from NYC...Nov. 4, 2008

After the results were announced, we headed over to Union Square and celebrated with other New Yorkers...we could hear echoes of screaming and shouting from all over the city! Afterwards, we went to "119" to watch Obama's victory speech and danced the night away to 80's music.

The victory was even more monumental for me because I was traveling in Kenya in 2003 when Bush declared war on Iraq. Kenyans were burning American flags on a daily basis, and the loathing for Americans became more apparent. Against my will, I had to flee south to Malawi. Yesterday, I cried not only because Obama is our 44th President but because yesterday Kenyans were proudly carrying the American flag, and President Mwai Kibaki declared a national holiday on Thursday. Change has come to America" and Obama's victory was indeed for the whole world!
