Ya I'd say that 99% of those "New cool features" are Mac based or directly copied from OSX

WMP= Front row

"Instant search"=Finder/Spotlight(origi­nated in OSX 10.3 in 2000)

Desktop Widgets= APPLE 10000%

Windows flip 3D=Expose (originated in 2004 in OSX 10.4)

@berger6000 Windows has Instant search since Windows 95 and Windows Flip 3D is like an upgrade from switching applications using Alt+Tab.

Truth is both copy off each other, and then some! Apple "invented" the mouse for desktop computers even though they stole that from Xerox, DOS was taken by Microsoft from a small Seatlle computer company...

Apple probably did copy some of Microsoft's ideas, but hands down Microsoft recently is really trying to be like Apple Mac's.

@ontheroof99 Linux has hundreds of distributions each with their own supported packages. Each distribution has their own way of going about things, their own desktop manager. There is no uniform design, the user base is fragmented. And at like 1% market share, there's not much of a reason for any 3rd party to develop for it. Maybe a corporation would design software for their own Linux machines, but no really good commercial products.
