My God some of you aussies are complete assholes. We are very open-minded here in the u.s, we will try anything, not saying we are good at it all (soccer,rugby,and aussie rules) but hey we'll give it a go.

I reckon it's good to see. Some comments on this page are a bit stupid though. Footy isnt exactly the easiest game to learn. Alot of the time it does look unstructured, even in a AFL game. (even though there is a strategy happening). Go for it, more you play the more you learn.

@ScottMacFie Dont worry Mate Oz is full of people with low self esteems and bad attitudes. Its called the tall poppy syndrome. Great to see the Great Game traveling to all parts of the world. Anybody can play this game because it caters for all different sizes and shapes. I've been to the states and I found the people awesome and friendly. Most people if they dont understand they criticise so I wouldnt start down their road. Still cant stand baseball, but I can watch 5 days of test cricket lol!

One thing other countries (cultures) MIGHT learn from Americans, with all our imperfections, is to be a bit more open minded. We are USED to seeing other countries playing our sports (b-ball in China, e.g.), our music, or enjoying our "culture"...so much so, many foreigners think all Americans are from NYC or LA, or like you see in the movies. So now we've found something great of YOURS, and you want to put us down? Be proud and support us as we learn more about your great sport.

Wow, lots of anti-American sentiment here. Couple things: Most players I've seen, (including myself) are not fat. The sport is in its infancy here, so it attracts people like me, who tend to be older, who grew up only playing American Football, or Soccer, but who are culturally open to other nation's sports. It also tends to be more recreational, but still, most skilled & fit athletes are playing other sports (even soccer--gag). Why so pissy? No one here claimed we're the best.

I am an American and have been trying to learn Aussie Rules football forever. I like how everyone is ripping on us for trying something new. And yea, these guys are out of shape, but its a bunch of amateur middle age dudes playing in a park. I've been to Oz and all around the world, there are fat out of shape people in every god damn country. Get real.

are you guys serious? there is no structure to the game, or tactics in this game. everyone are just scrabling for the ball etc. none of the people are picking up their man. fucking hell you guys dont have a clue about footy! im 15 and id dominate all you yanks. but its good to see yous getting out there and giving it a red hot go! the best game in the world!
