@TheBrilliantGeniuses maybe, but where is the melody? it is hard for me to call to mind a lyrical melody i've heard from progressive rock. and some of the 'jazz/rock' virtuosi are even more miraculous in their shredding ability, but their own compositions seem like technical exercises in solving problems. or worse, the sound of forced emotive expression, à la music theory 101. The late Mr. Coltrane, may he rest in peace, a virtuoso, composed lyrical solutions. of course, it's a matter of taste.
