The Lionel ACF Center Flow 3-Bay and 4-Bay Covered Hoppers definitely have a place to mount O Scale Couplers.
The rest of the K-Line and Lionel recent scale rolling stock have locations to glue scale couplers.
Atlas O Master Series and TrainMan are all ready for scale couplers.

Most K-Line and Lionel Cars made before 2000 would be a challenge to adapt for O Scale couplers.
Many of the post 2000 built K-Line and Lionel O Scale sized cars are made to accept the O Scale couplers.

I haven't seen scale coupler mounting pads on any modern Lionel scale freight cars, including some of the nice scale cars from the 2008 catalog. If you know of one that has it, let me know the model number. It'd be sweet if Lionel followed MTH's lead and started equipping their scale freight cars with the mounting pads for scale couplers.
By the way, have you seen the demonstration video of MTH's new scale proto-couplers? Badass!

You might want to paint the unpainted screw heads black to better blend them in. Other than that, it's a fantastic tutorial. I can't wait until you attempt a Lionel or Atlas rolling stock.

Thanks. Atlas is easy, since their cars come already equipped to handle scale couplers. Lionel, on the other hand, is gonna be real challenge as their cars are not scale coupler friendly at all. Doing a Lionel car will be a good way to spend a rainy day for sure!
