This is a dicussion about piezo tweeters for possible use in animal control. Some info is given here. The rest is up to you. If you have any info please send it to me and I'll pass it along. There are lots of people out there who have trouble with animals in their neighborhoods. If your neighbor will not control his pet and he doesn't care about those around him, and you feel abandoned and left for dead by your local government, then you might have to help yourself. Any knowledge is good knowledge.

I live in Sugar Land, Texas in a teeny house with big taxes. My neighborhood is full of barking dogs (sometimes I think I live in hell). The owner directly behind me has FOUR dogs. I've had words with him. He was confrontational at first and he said "dogs bark, there's nothing you can do about it" (I guess he hasn't heard about responsible dog ownership and bark training your dog). I stared him down for a couple of minutes and he went inside, but then he came back out and apologized and said he'd try to work with the dogs (wow). It's a little better back there, but not perfect (after all, it's FOUR dogs). One of the worst dogs in the neighborhood is next door to me. Their patio is just 15 feet from my back patio. I've been fighting this next door problem for TEN YEARS. I've talked to them many times. One day, several years ago, that neighbor angrily told me: "I tried a shock collar and my dog doesn't like it, so I'm not going to make her wear it". Then he proceeded to curse me because he had wasted money on the training collar. Can you believe that crap?

From my experiences: my opinion is: (I use the word "opinion" so Sugar Land won't try to threaten me with legal action, or whatever) so: MY OPINION is: Sugar Land Texas police and animal control has a policy of not being involved. It's an affluent area, so they do have resources. So, I don't get it. The city has a law on the books against noisy dogs and it's on the internet. But all they do is point me to a "red tape" system (court) for me to try to get relief (ie: do it yourself, we're busy). Court is a nightmare. In my OPINION, their "red tape" system is a black hole that they call a system. My OPINION is that they do this to cut down the amount of work that they have to do. That's just my strong OPINION after ten years of hassles with dog noise. So, as you can understand, I'm just tired and pissed off. It's so frustrating.

I called officer Garcia the other day at Sugar Land animal control (he spoke to me in a friendly and professional manner) and I asked once again for clarification on the question of whether or not I can use "high frequency sound" for dog control in this town. Almost all city and town governments in the US are ok with high frequency sound for dog control, he had told me a couple of weeks ago that high frequency was ok for hushing dogs in Sugar Land. But, this time he turned the phone over to a female supervisor (probably a supervisor, and she had attitude) who sternly told me that in Sugar Land it's ok to use high frequency devices as long as they are commercially built for dog control (I guess that means: no home made devices). It was a chilly conversation (why? I was just a citizen who wanted information). So, I will stick to her opinion of the law for now (I strongly believe it's her opinion, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt for now, as I doubt there is any law on the books describing things in this manner). So, I've found a kennel control device on the internet that's professional strength that I will buy as soon as I finish my "court" attempt to quiet the dog (should I get no relief from the courts). This professional strength dog control device is called a: Texmark Ultrasonic Kennel Silencer that I will order. It's supposed to be powerful and it'll cost me 250 bucks. But, if it works then it'll be WELL worth it. So, City Of Sugar Land, I'm trying to comply, too bad my neighbors won't. However, I'm ten years into this nightmare and I won't stop now until the problem gets fixed. It's friggin ridiculous.

Things work better in other places, just look at this Youtube post on one of my videos (from Nashville):
+ "Nashville, TN here. I've had to deal with 5 neighbors within 600 feet pulling this crap. I've used late-night "caller ID-blocked" angry calls, MANY calls to the Police (it helps that I'm a neighborhood watch director -- they actually respond quickly to my calls), visits from Metro Animal Control (with court summonses issued), letters threatening legal action, visits from my Councilman (who actually cares enough to get personally involved), and rallying other neighbors to do these same things." cowboytim98

Let me comment on that interesting posting from Nashville: It's my opinion that I'll never ever get a personal visit from a Sugar Land city councilman. They're too busy for me. I live in the neighborhood with the small homes.

Thanks for the tips. I was thinking maybe a record/playback bullhorn.
As far as a noise complaint goes, thats why I want a recording of their dogs. The other neighbors will think it is their dogs barking. It matters not If the cops come out as I have no dogs. Besides, a recording of their dogs barking will give them a taste of what I go thru.

@randy12368 Sounds like you have a plan. Again, they deserve what they get. Your actions will also illustrate your anger, which they should be made aware of. Good luck.

I'm having the same problem as you. They had 1 that come out its dogy door and start barking. I came to the conclusion that it is trying to insight a responce so it has a better excuse. Then the assholes got another just like it that is 10 times worse, now I have to listen to 2 of them. I want to set up outdoor speakers and play a recording of their dogs barking when they are asleep. That way maybe the other neighbors will start to complain too. I'm not sure of the components I will need. Help!

@randy12368 An mp3 recorder (record the dogs), power amp (50 to 100 watts), and mid-range pa horn. That's what is needed, but I don't know if this is a good approach, it's up to you. They deserve it, but you may get a noise complaint from other neighbors and cops might show up. Lately, I've tried the "asshole" approach by cussing loudly and breaking pieces of the fence when I'm yelling (I could get arrested for this too). But, my approach is scaring the neighbors and it's starting to work.
