There are rare cases known of pigs that are rather alone, but people please remember this is always the exeption and never the rule. @al2275 I'm very happy for you that your pig has had a healthy long solo life, but again this is the exeption and no matter how many hours you spend with your pig you can never replace another guinea.

All I wanted to add to LaBellissimaNotte's posts are: There are countries where keeping a guinea pig alone is a criminal offence. That lone should tell you how important it is for guinea to have a friend or several friends. Anybody with an pet of any type should have the animals best intrest come first.

@rihanna3400 Honestly? Guinea pigs are group animals. They can and will get lonely when kept on their own. I've had pigs that stopped eating when their friend/partner died. There are rare cases known of pigs that are fine without a friend, but those cases are extremely rare. Just go get a cute little extra girl pig. Maybe get advised by a breeder? They are splendid in even matching up the most dominant of pigs. Goodluck!

I relly only see you arguing. I've had one at a time and it lived a long long time - happily. maybe spending more time with the pigs instead of constructing devices that do might help your pigs be more happy?

@al2275 And you missed the point that in SOME COUNTRIES, it IS illegal to sell single piggies, because of the issue that a piggy needs to be in a group, and having one single is abuse. Not all countries have the same animal care laws, you know.

ALL EVIDENCE shows they are social animals that would be happier with their own kind. No one is saying that CAN'T be happy without company, but that they PREFER to be with company.
