Microscopic video footage of jellyfish nematocysts firing. The video was created by the TASRU (Tropical Australian Stinger Research Unit) of James Cook University. The video shows nematocysts along a section of tentacle from Carukia barnesi (Irukandji jellyfish) discharging after artificial stimulation. The image has been filmed through a microscope and is magnified about 400 times.

Those nematocysts fire their stingers with a force of five million G's. I kid you not.

i blinked, what did i miss?

anyways enough jokes, time for some facts. the venom from most jellyfish stings (such as those from the box jellyfish) are released from the entire tentacle. however, the reason the deadlier cousin of the box jellyfish, the irukandji, is delayed but deadlier, is that venom is only released at the tip of the nematocysts tentacle, the reason its deadlier is beyond me, either its the concentration, or the fact it has nematocysts on its bell as well, or something else

Sort of. The cell dies, but it replaced in 48 hours. This is basically how they capture prey, and in the case of corals, defend themselves.
