  • The frame rate looks slow; is that Fraps slowing it down? I like the bullets that you fire, nice effect. Did you use Terragen to render the sky image? This looks like it could be a really fun shooter. Good luck with the contest!

  • Yeah, Fraps is slow on my laptop. I can't remember where the skybox is from, IIRC it's a modified version of one of the tutorial skyboxes from somewhere. This was for the first DBP contest though; I didn't get to win anything hehehe.

  • The 2008 contest? Have you entered anything into the 2009? Also have you fixed this up more and started selling it? I'd like to check it out.

  • Um, earlier than that, when DBP allowed entries for the PC.

I haven't fixed it up much since the competition, mostly because selling XNA games for the PC was difficult due to the multiple prereqs.

After the competition I posted the final build on GameProjects, search for Truck Defender there.

It was compiled on XNA v1.1, though I expect it should run ok on the latest runtime as well. =)

  • i looks similar to "INCOMING" a 1998 game :)

  • Yah, someone mentioned that on another site. I didn't get to play Incoming, but after looking at the wikipedia article, it really is similar.

The idea for this was actually taken from Defender though, a 1980 game, lol =)

  • You should get GS3.1. Upgrading is easy. And then upload to Xbox Live Indie Games. Even if you only sell 100 copies, it's decent, and people can play it on the Xbox 360 on their TV. It's so much easier than dealing with PC games. Might give you the incentive to start on another game, or maybe even improve this one.

    Take care,

  • oh noez, they art thou going to taketh thou truckz! Heh, interesting game you got going thar.

  • Not really, I'm running this off an old aspire 3000 laptop, and it runs fine there. That's an onboard card, it should run even better if you have an actual graphics card.

  • omg you need a good computer!
