Derren is back with his Mind Reader An Evening of Wonders Tour filmed at The Garrick Theatre, London. I have seen this show and highly recommend it.

axdcs1: I don't understand how he does most of his stuff either, but my understanding is that he doesn't predict what will happen- he arranges what will happen. Giving him the benefit of the doubt and assuming he doesn't use stooges (and he hasn't made a deal with the devil), I'm guessing he just influences the audience members into writing down certain numbers or believing they always intended to ask him the question he's planted in their minds, etc.

@computersolutions164 I hear RIcky Gervais use the word "mentalist" often in that way, among some others. I had heard that Derren didn't like it. Maybe that's why?

No in the UK Mentalist is another name for an illusionist / magician like Derren,
although Derren does not like the term "Mentalist" apparently.
If a person is said to be "Mental" though then yes it does mean insane, mad, bonkers, nuts or whatever you want to call it. I know,. I Know English is a funny language

@computersolutions164 Am I wrong in thinking that "mentalist" means insane person in the UK? Also, Derren did the "guess a number" thing with Karl Pilkington and explained to Pilky that certain types of people pick certain numbers.
Since learning that I've noticed that the same numbers come up in Derren's shows, almost without exception. Just like the image of the cat does.

I am a full-time professional magician and agent for about 30 entertainers and I can say this guy blew me away. I understand parts here and there but the quality of this show was amazing. Just enough comedy, shock value, and personality.
Some people inspire me to be better, some make me feel good about my show, this one makes me want to quit.

Go and see him live and leave the show wondering what the hell happened and feeling slightly peculiar and not really knowing why

i'm going to see Derren's Engima show in Birmingham on April 27th in Birmingham (UK) - Go to Ticketmaster and get a ticket, there are still a single ones few left - worth every penny
