A real-time screen capture of a test model fracturing with 3ds Max 2012's new MassFX toolset for rigid body physics powered by PhysX. All real-time, not rendered.
MassFX replaces the Reactor toolset powered by the Havok engine from previous versions of 3ds Max. MassFX is far easier to set up but lacks exclusive tools for cloth and rope simulations, though those are typically simulated using other tools included with Max.
It's as simple as selecting all the parts of the model, applying a dynamic rigid body modifier, and setting the variables like gravity and density, and running the simulation. Collision meshes are automatically assigned.
wait wait wait- but hadn't you shattered it with rayfire?
