Pokemon Red Mew Glitch

This video was made with a Pikachu N64 with Pokemon Stadium 2, a black controller w/ Transfer Pak and a Pokemon Red game cartridge.

My save has 1 badge, defeated the Nugget Bridge challenge, battled the trainer @ [insert time] to avoid mistakes, an Abra in the party to use Teleport, and has not battled the trainer with a Slowpoke.

1. Heal at the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City to "set" the teleport location.

2. Stop before the trainer to the left of the north bridge away from sight. Hit Start before the trainer can see you as you walk one step down.

3. Use Abra's Teleport to go back to the Cerulean City Pokemon Center. You will see the trainer's exclamation point before you successfully teleport.

4. Battle the trainer with the Slowpoke. After the battle, the Start menu should be available. Switch to whatever Pokemon you want to use to capture Mew.

5. Teleport again and walk up to the bridge. After a number of steps taken, the Start menu will automatically appear.

6. Press B to start the battle against Mew!

(According to http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mew_glitch , you can battle the Swimmer in the Cerulean City gym instead of the Youngster on Route 25 if you want to.)

can somone tell me HOW this works i mean is this a glich or is this the real way to catch mew and why is it so hard to do this, go and battle with a guy, teleport bach and press B?
