This is my very first time ever hearing an aria from any Pergolesi opera. Now my questions is why his operas aren't performed or recorded at all while Vivaldi's (of varied qualities, I find, some really hopeless, in fact) seem to be filling up the shelves almost neck-and-neck with Handel's. And of course, La Bonitatibus sings like a goddess that she is. Thank you so much for posting this for so many reasons.

I saw two Pergolesi operas in the last two weeks : Adrianno in Seria (in Beaune) and Sallustia (in Montpellier). They should really be performed more and of course recorded.

brava la bonitatibus: ha un colore stupendo e poi la musica del signor pergolesi è una delizia, anche se devo concordare con eudossa nel dire che è un pò troppo "svolazzante" per un testo del genere. cmq brava anna!!!

Bellissima musica, lo ammetto, e complimenti alla cantante, ma non trovate che quest'aria sia un po' troppo "svolazzante" per descrivere un animo tormentato e furente come quello di Licida? Per me l'opera lirica non dev'essere solo grandi note, ma soprattutto sentimento, in ogni sua forma e colore. VIVA VIVALDI!!!

She is very skilled, the instrument is glorious and she is obviously fearless. However, in my opinion - and let me back this up - I am a mezzo who has taken lessons for a wonderful teacher for 7 years - no chance of quitting the day job but I'm not clueless - there is a very vertical quality to her voice and at the very top some of the notes are not completely on-pitch. It's a small quibble - but it's something that I think she needs to watch and work on. Just my opinion.
