That night marks such a point in history. I'll always remember how I felt like a weight had been lifted. I've never been so happy and relieved. It literally made me cry.

I absolutely love this. My brother was somewhere in the midst of all that celebrating and said that he had never seen anything like it in his life. What a great moment for our country!

@dweester I remember people were pouring into the streets in silver spring. I drove down from Odenton, Called up my friend in Bel-Air, and we both went and partied. Quite a fun time we had despite the fact that I had to work the next day.

Would McCain have gotten the same kind of reception/reaction if he had won? NOPE!
Go Obama!
I love these "in the street" random videos. They truly capture the MAJORITY of my fellow Americans' feelings on that historic, game-changing night.

You go girrrrrrrrrrrrrrrlllll!!!!! Yeeeee Haaaaaa!!!! :)
I dont understand why the police cleared the streets and why they are all over everything that happens constantly, it wasn't allways like that.

The gatherings were not organized, nor under anyone's control. All the streets were blocked by revelers, people walking in the street. After 2am, some put their cars in the intersections & started blaring stereos loudly. It went from festive to annoying for 1000s of residents who live nearby. The 7-Eleven workers had to close for safety. So, no bathrooms, no refreshments & a lot of excited, young, raucous people.... 3-1/2 hours was just fine: Less is more! Any longer could have turned out badly.
