The microwaves (electromagnetic waves) used in cell phones (which are two-way microwave transmitters) and also used in cordless house phones, wireless internet as well as other wireless devices are electromagnetic waves absorbed by the body and are known to cause thyroid damage in the medical studies I have listed for you in the posts below.

I would suggest not using these devices. There are many studies on pubmed.gov showing the ill effects of these devices on the body and they are classified as a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), and especially affect children. "Disconnect" by Dr. Devra Davis is an excellent book which explains this. Very best of luck and a speedy recovery.

The medical study is numbers are 208071­79 and 222163­80, and one just two of many showing adverse health effects from mobile phone. I don't know why it scrambles when you paste it in, but just ensure the medical study number is correct when pasting into your browser and it will take you to the thyroid study findings re mobile phones.

This study and the one below indicates mobile phones and cordless phones and wireless internet, which all now use microwaves to transmit, could be a cause for thyroid gland damage. My teenage daughter developed a lump on her neck below where the phone rests: Pulse modulated 900 MHz radiation induces hypothyroidism and apoptosis in thyroid cells: a light, electron microscopy and immunohistochemical study, published in the US National Library of Medicine Here:

Brooke, so sorry you had to go through this. I have also gone through it. You will be fine. But, I am surprised at your comment about where & how big your scar is going to be!!!  With all your doctor appts & second opinions, I'm surprise they didn't tell you the reality of it is that you get barely a scar that is about 1/2" long. I never even notice mine. You will be in terrific hands & it will all go well.
