Character Project: USA Network's Photographic Celebration of America's Characters

USA Network has launched Character Project, an ongoing artistic initiative to capture the character of America and pay tribute to the extraordinary people, from all walks of life, who make this country unique. USA has assembled a team of world-class photographers including Mary Ellen Mark, Sylvia Plachy, Dawoud Bey, Jeff Dunas, David Eustace, Eric Ogden, Marla Rutherford, Anna Mia Davidson, Joe Fornabaio, Eric McNatt and Richard Renaldi to create a collection of photographs as varied as the country itself. I like the idea but I don't think you can capture the true character of anyone when they pose for a picture.  Catch them being themselves and the picture will tell a whole different and genuine story while having them pose just kills all of that potential energy.

"I find characters out doing what they do and being who they are." Man what a goofy quote. I mean EVERYONE is doing what they do and being who they are. I would like to see someone NOT doing what they do -THAT would be a trick!
