I used an EOTech with a 3 power magnifier at a class last Novenber during the 'Swap rifles with the guy next to you' part of the class. I absolutely hated the magnifier on the EOTech. Seemed too busy and slow to get onto target. The instructor mentioned it to me also after class how long it took to find the target with the magnifier.
Hate to mention it, but the EOTechs were failing quite a bit during this class. Contact and battery issues.

The model scope I have is the PST14STM.

RD6,
My aging eyes have an astigmatism that is causing my EOTech center dot to "bloom" - so that started my quest for different optics - so - sorry to say I don't have any experience with the magnifier for the EOTech. Thanks for the kind words and glad you enjoyed the video!

What is the model number of that vortex viper scope?
Thanks for the vid ti. You've got me closer to making up my mind. Not sure what to do, but I've got a BCM middy that still needs some optics, Looking at the TR24G, SWFA SS, and the Vortex PST.
I'm pretty sold on the 1-4 concept on an AR after using it for a few years. At a recent SI M4 Gunfighting class the 1-4 was a huge hindrance at 0 to 10 yards... especially when moving... but at 25 to 50 I was keeping up with the dot sights, and at 75 to 100 I was actually waiting on them to catch up!

It takes more training to get almost as fast close range with the quality 1x4 compared to a dot. If you don't put in the time - it will be much slower; With a lower quality 1x4 - it would take a LOT more perfect practice. I like the Vortex - a lot.

Tire Iron, that was a great video. I have an Eotec on My Bushmaster AR-15. Eotec also has a 3X magifier. Are you familiar with that set-up. I was thinking on getting one to solve my "old eyes" problem. That way I could still have the advantages the Eotec provides and have some magnification to boot instead of ditching it and buying a scope. Your thoughts on this?
Thanks, Red Dog 6

If you don't have any problem with the dot blooming or looking weird - then I would say that the 3x is a good way to go. Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to post!
cheers
