In this video feature, Bruce Neswick, the Director of Cathedral Music and Organist of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, tells about the pieces he chose for his new CD recording The Opening of Heaven. The recording was made in October, 2010, and is being released in late July, 2011, just prior to Mr. Neswick's final Sunday in his director of music and organist post at the Cathedral. The men of the Cathedral choir sing plainchant, which is heard in the new recording, just prior to each of the four movements of the organ work by David Hurd, entitled "Te Deum Laudamus." The Great Organ of New York's Cathedral of St. John the Divine was restored and rededicated in 2008. The new CD, released on Pro Organo, shall be available in CD format and downloadable MP3 in August, 2011, and an expanded Blu-Ray Audio Disc version will be released in November, 2011. The Blu-Ray Audio version will feature both stereo and 5.1 surround sound mixes of the program, and will contain three bonus tracks, each of them an organ improvisation by Bruce Neswick. The recording is available from www.proorgano.com (catalog CD 7251 and BD 7251).

  • Wow! Spectacular. I just ordered the CD, and look forward to annoying my neighbors with the full organ sounds. Especially the Larry King piece!
