Gary Morris is CEO of the Booroongen Djugun Aboriginal Corporation in Kempsey.
Situated in the Macleay Valley in northern NSW, Kempsey is home to the Dunghutti people. Here the Booroongen Djugun Aboriginal Corporation runs an Aged Care Facility and a Training College.
Founded in 1991, the BDAC arose out of Aboriginal community concerns that their elders had few adequate facilities or trained people to look after them in old age.
Gary Morris and Val Marsh established the BDAC under instructions from their community, providing shelter for their elders in the Aged Care Facility and multiple training courses for local people in the adjoining College.
It has been a resounding success.
