The Humpty Dumpty of Christian Apologetics

@CoryTheRaven I object to someone taking a verse (e.g. 2 Peter 3:8) meant to explain one context (e.g. the delayed arrival of Christ's second coming) and applying it to a totally unrelated context (e.g. the length of each creation day in Genesis). It has nothing to do with someone intelligently trying to interpret the Bible. It has more to do with someone creating an ad hoc apologetic in an attempt to rescue the Bible from skepticism and removing it from it's own context(s).

"In truth, many (perhaps most!) evolutionists are theists of one sort or another.Their views are as sincerely and validly held as those of the atheists and have as much (perhaps more!) claim to be representative of evolutionist thinking. Atheists have every right to believe that theists are woefully misguided in failing to see the obsolescence of religion after Darwin; but that is their philosophical opinion, not an infallibly proven proposition of science or logic" ~Daryl Domning

Evolution is entirely compatible with Christianity, Daryl Domning In a recent report from the National Center for Science Education said most Evolutionary biologists are out spoken theists. Read what St. Augustine said about genesis it's not a core belief of Christianity and people knew that before Darwin.
Unless you're going to give a reason why there incompatible, then they can be harmonised.

Christanity and Islam are both cults and that is all both sad both rediculious now what? I say make one big pile and burn most of the books from both religions, keeping only a few copies as a example for future generations to see just how stupid some peoples once were.

@martiandog89 "Think of who wrote the bible..."
So let's be clear: You believe the bible is not the inerrant word of god.
-
@Rockster969 Islam is neither a being nor a description of beings.
It's a religion. The statement "60% of Islam can't even read" is therefore invalid.
-
@MrVirtualCoder and 60% of Islam can't even read!
Must be all that cutting edge (snigger!) Islamic science that elevated you above us, lol!

@MrVirtualCoder A dogshit paedo bear religion so crap it must be read in Arabic and you have the fucking temerity to talk about minds for thinking.
How tall are people in paradise, 60 feet is it?
How many thousands of slaves will each moslem get, 6,000 is it?
Does the devil sleep in my nose at night?
Does a cock crow when it see's an angel?
Does a donkey bray when it see's shaitan?
Did paedo bear slip a 9 year old a portion just after her playing with dollies?
Don't fucking talk about logic!

@MrJmm999 If anything the bible is just too silent about slavery. Think of who wrote the bible and then think of how empires existed... people have changed so much that it is actually difficult to understand the write of the bible. It isn't chronological ordered on purpose, it is exaggerated when speaking of war and death (and probably way more than that). People are terrible, but the teachings of Christ were great. The message of Christ is even misunderstood in many of his teachings.

uh, you're the humpty dumpty. craig is saying it's open to interpretation; you're saying it's NOT, that it is INCOMPATIBLE with evolution, no? Well, I guess the bible will mean whatever YOU want it to mean, idiot.

@slash20062006 No, the Bible means what the original authors intended it to mean. It is not my, yours, or Craig's job to reinterpret it in light of modern scientific discoveries. Darwinian evolution is a modern scientific theory; we're safe in saying the original authors of Genesis did not have it in mind when the creation story was written down. If you had two brain cells to rub together, you might have figured that out on your own.
