  • I bought this 2 voice in 1976, and still own it. It has been in storage for 20 years, and works perfectly. Does anyone know what it is worth?

    Thanks

  • If it's been in storage for 20 years then it isn't likely to be working perfectly. The pots probably need cleaning if not replacement and both the power supply and and SEMs may need recapped. In very clean condition fully checked out by a competent tech it'd fetch $2500 on ebay. If untested or questionable condition it's worth $1500-2000. Without sequencer it'll be worth $500 less.

  • nice demo for sure but where is PART2!?

  • The video camera I have access to isn't able to record line input audio so I recorded the audio to DAT. The freebie video editing stuff in windows is so infuriating I gave up trying to sync the audio for parts 2 and 3 to the video.

  • Sounds great, buddy! I needs me one of thems.

  • Very nice job. Love the old Oberheim gear. Trance like indeed!

  • great demo

  • boards of canada-ish. have they used one?

  • Really beautiful demo. Thank you very much. By the way, is this a Serge system on the back ?

  • Nicely done, sir!

By any chance, do you remember Starcastle? Just discovered the remasters and they sound great! For those that don't know, Starcastle's keyboardist, Herb Schildt (yeah, the same one that went on to write the computer programming books) did some really nice stuff on synths, including Oberheim. "Stargate", "Fountains", and "Portraits" are good places to start.

  • I have also a pristine TVS-1, current price is $5400 on eBay. I bought it in 1984 for $350!

  • @dm3857 you got an oberheim four voice synthesizer for christmas from your parents and don't know how to program? How rich are your parents? It'd be an amazing synth to learn on though. But to someone who doesn't know programming - the OB4 must look extremely intimidating. It's much easier to learn synthesis on an analog monosynth.

  • Beautiful.
