The late German theologian Ernst Troeltsch is noted for arguing that the resurrection of Christ, by lacking an analogy in history, is historically dubious. In the very least, confessing it as a recognizable historical event is beyond where a historian can go. One must confess, by lack of analogy, that the resurrection never happened. Utilizing both Pannenburg and N.T. Wright, I take a brief look at Troeltsch's argument.
