  • Z-Fighting is my worst enemy..

Especially with textures with transparency :(

  • Actually snap-to-grid has always existed in SL. :-)

Also, a better builder would not have this problem since their prims wouldn't overlap, but I guess Torley was talkign to those who are not so skilled.

One way to avoid overlap is to of course calculate dimensions and position, but for those who don't like math, there are inworld tools available to help with perfecting alignment of prims, such as primdocker and skidz prims.

  • I would reduce the dimensions of the green cube:

Reduce each axis by 0.001 as this works from the pivot point of the prim. Although at large camera distances it will still produce flicker.

  • personally i wish they would fix the center copy feature as it currently acts a bit strange when rotations are involved.

  • I wonder if moving the faces away less than 0.001 metres would do? (Some viewer forks lets you get away with this kind of precision)

  • That doesn't solve the Z-fighting problem, you know. And while the edit tools of Second Life is lacking, it does have a snap-to-grid option!

  • OR you could get your programmers to do it the right way and create a snap-to-grid option. You know, like pretty much every other 3D modeling program in existence has as a standard feature..

  • Damn wish I had thought if this myself. Fed up with trying to position prims without the crashing prob. Thanks
