Unless they come up with a cure for aids, prolonging the life of the infected only increases the possibility that they will infect someone else. The money would be better spent by trying to prevent the transmission of it to new people. If everyone with aids were segregated like they did with leprosy, then the disease would die out with the patients. The only known to become infected is through transmission from an already infested person. Stop aids patients and you stop aids.
