  • I'm not one who loves electric instruments and drums in bluegrass, but this is great picking...JD ROCKS! Where was this taped?

  • This was taped in late 1977 for KET. A 30 min show with Jim Murphy on steel, Steve Goetzman on drums, who later sucessfully audition with the local group Exile, and I played bass with this group for almost two years. These guys were a blast to travel and play with. Keith Whitley replaced Glen about four months later. If anyone has a complete copy of the show I would love to have it.

  • well uhhh gee dere rick howabout we cook us up some moonshine

  • i thought john duffy wrote this.. guess not

  • @Banjerman07 I remember talking to Crowe one time about a RB-4, He has 1 that he bought in the 70's as I recall, but I'm not sure if he still has it as this is been 10 years ago. I know for a fact he still owns Banger as well as a standard original RB-3. truth is JD has owned and still owns a housefull of old original flatheads

  • yessssss

  • @BATENKILL problay his no hole RB-3(aka the Banger). I dont know if he borrowed the 75 from Bob Rodgers yet or not. J.D never played a RB-4 as they are walnut banjos and all of J.Ds are mahogany like his 3 or 75. He does have a Maple Granada. Im pretty sure thats his No-Hole RB-3 there with the full flying eagle pattern.

  • J D is the man !

  • No it's a 30's RB-4 he has a house full of em too!!!

  • Is this jd's rb 75 he's playing here?

  • The lead singer is Jimmy Gaudreau who stepped in for a short bit with the Country Gentlemen between John Duffy and Doyle Lawsong and sang lead on their version of "Sea of heartache". Jimmy has a great voice and is a great mandolin picker as well.

  • That singer has a great voice. He reminds me of our old bass player.

Wow JD's left hand just seems to float over the strings! He makes it look so easy.

Although I think I prefer an electric bass, I'm not big on the other electric instruments, its just not bluegrass.
