Ray Conniff : a name synonym to superb arranging, superb performing and just simply .....superb music. His style of music making - using male and female voices as additional "instruments" and combine them with the brass and other elements of the orchestra - was (and still is) unique. Ray Conniff's music remains popular up to this day around the globe. Here Conniff applies his typical arrangement style to a song that definitely must be in the "top 5" of "most recorded songs of all time" : "Unchained melody". At this moment, more than 550 different versions of the song exist - the most well known being that of the Righteous Brothers released in 1965. (The song was published 10 years earlier by soundtrack composer Alex North for a film called "Unchained")
The song once again became a hit in 1990, after it's appearance in the romantic movie "Ghost" which starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. More recently (2006) Barry Manilow and the male singer group Il Divo included the song on one of their albums. Here now from the 1997 album "I love movies" are Ray Conniff, His Orchestra and Singers with their fabulous interpretation of this well known evergreen. Enjoy !
