Buddy, in his last year or three made a final step in his evolution. The musical shading in his ensemble playing is far more subtle and unpredictable. No wasted motion, and (if it's possible) and even more unrelenting sense of the continuum of time. I'll see you on your website and thanks for the post from a fellow Buddy-ite.

Damn, I miss the Budster so much. I have a few tribute clips to him on here. The new generation of musicians needs to see more of this. I used to go to those concerts back in the 80s at Disneyland. Unforgettable.

He was diagnosed in New York at Mount Sinai Hospital and promptly checked himself out and left for California and was operated on there. I think he went into Sinai around Jan or February.

Bone soloist is Tom Garling. He and Bill both live in Chicago, but there are a few years difference in age.
