  • Still looks like digital to me.

  • @Black7Cloud

Thanks for the constructive criticism. Do you have any more tips for me?

  • is colour correction just like a mode on FCP or is it u manually changing settings, i am currently using Adobe Premiere Pro cs5 and wasnt sure if it was on there?

  • @kentos101

I'm sure Premiere has something similar. It's just a filter that lets you change the white balance of shadows, highlights, and midtones.

  • did you make this 24 fps then render it at a higher framerate? or did you render it at 24 fps?

  • @TheAceofNate

This was filmed so long ago I don't really remember, but I think I shot natively in 24p.

  • I don't understand why so many people insist on arguing film vs. digital. It's like trying to argue oil paint vs watercolors. You can achieve amazing results with both. Just because someone likes the results of one of the tools doesn't mean that they believe the other is inferior. What matters is the hand behind the brush, just like what matters is the eye behind the camera.

  • @JoelMorehouse You can buy film grain packages and place them over the footage with a transfer mode, similar to the film burn effect you used at the start.

  • Looks nothing like film footage, even with depth in the shot/background, the image feels flat.

  • I personally think the video looks great keep up the good work!!

  • i think it looks great, would love to see how it looks with 2 actors in a conversation

  • @ahafnor Also, I'm not an advocate of Film being replaced. I'm an advocate of Digital being accepted, something that I believe has already happened.

  • @ahafnor I feel it's a matter of evolution. Give digital time. It's still young. Consider it in its two-strip technicolor days. I have a feeling that soon RED will honor film's memory. Jim Jannard himself said recently that he strives to make his cameras great because 1080p isn't a suitable successor to film. The standard for digital is rising quickly. There's already talk of 3K becoming the new standard for digital, but I have a feeling it'll be higher than that by the time it arrives.

  • @Cotygeek Its just sad. Film was standardized. But digital is just a nightmare of continuous obsoletion. You can always get one more line of definition and one more color code written, and then every video camera from yesterday is out dated. I have faith in Film stickin around. Aronofsky shot Black swan partially on super 16. There is hope.

  • @ahafnor Unfortunately, as of earlier this month, it may be a moot point. Digital has just about officially taken over as every major camera developer, including Panavision and Arri, have just announced that they will no longer produce film based cameras. Sure there's still plenty of stock out there for sale, and there will always be companies that try to keep it alive, but I feel that digital may very well surpass film. That would have been a laughable statement five years ago. Not so much now.

  • @Cotygeek I agree to a certain extent, but video has always strived to be film. People these days say RED is almost as good as 35. Thats just it, it's trying to be film. Film is real, photons of light expose the grain. Video is binary, 1's and 0's, data. Nothing real about it. 8 bit video is limited to 256 colors. Film isn't. Film has better latitude and depth of field. Video is popular because it's convenient. Film is popular because its beautiful. I love both, but Film is better.

  • @Black7Cloud you probably should have gone to specsavers then
