  • where is the difference between the romainian deadlift and the bodybuilding deadlift (for back muscles)?

is it just the concentration on the muscles? the demonstration in both videos looks nearly the same...

  • @adkzMitch Yes very much the same indeed

  • would this exercise put less strain on traps ?

I hate traps because they look ugly and mine tend to grow easily.

    Any ideas?

  • @spacegv Pull your shoulders back and it should lessen the effects on traps. Some people just have very responsive muscles in specific planes and ranges of motion, just as most people have very unresponsive muscles as well, even when targeted in specific ranges and planes of motion.

  • I just wanted to make a general post thanking Coach Abel for sharing his knowledge so freely with us. I look forward to all the new posts and have learned a lot, technique wise and with new movements. Thanks so much and keep up the good work!

  • Well we both sure appreciate all the positive commentary so thank you as well

Feel free to rate the vid clips for us as well. That really helps

  • Well it nice to be thought of at least LOL. Good for you for actually being willing to make a change and no just doing what you have always done.

  • Thanks, Scott and Kevin. I just came here to echo Desi's comments. Technique is so fundmental to deadlifts, and I didn't realize just how subtle the changes to shift the load from the hammies to the back. I always have an image of Kevin in my mind doing deadlifts now!

  • No problem. You are not alone in this. Many people have a hard time distinguishing between a deadlift for the back and one for the hamstrings. Very subtle difference that is often missed.

  • Great clarification for distinguishing between the deadlift variations. I've always had a hard time with both - but the videos have helped so much! think I'm good to go now! - thanks Coach Weiss
