See my other charcoal tutorial for higher resolution video. In response to my other charcoal videos I have prepared a full description of how to make charcoal at home. You will see my methods entirely. You agree that you accept full liability and responsibility for your actions should you choose to use any of the methods described here. This is not "the right way" of doing it, but it is an easy, usable and fully functional method. Good luck and happy charcoal making.

  • @Downfacingdog Sorry, hillbillies are from way down south. I'm out west. Redneck, maybe. Hillbilly, no. I'm pretty sure that my low levels of pollution are no worse than you driving your gas guzzling car. If the earth didn't have a way to deal with pollution, we'd all be dead by now.

  • Can't I just use store-bought BBQ charcoal to make black powder???

  • @nicuribe Charcoal briquets will not make good black powder. there is far too many contaminates. Ever notice all the ash after you are done barbequing? that would all be in your powder and would make it incredibly inefficient. Sorry no shortcuts there.

  • did you know that if you cook food with poplar or poplar charcoal you can get sick from it.the rest of the wood is ok for cooking but deffinetly not poplar

  • @bigaxe87 Didn't know that. everyone keep that in mind.

  • now that's a fire lol thanks for the "how to" ^_^v

  • What a waste of wood, how about this, put the hole on the bottom of the barrel and cover the top. This way you get charcoal from all the wood burnt.

I agree cut the music, annoying.

  • @Downfacingdog oooooooooooooooooooooo im sure thats soooooo bad. NOT. calm down tree hugger

  • Not really. If the charcoal has been carbonized fully, all the toxic volatiles will have been pyrolized and driven off, no matter the source material. Charcoal is carbon, not wood. Different charcoals vary in activated surface area and burning rates, but they're all carbon.

  • you boys playing with fire again!!.

  • @jpchapboy actually there is a surprising lack of hills "way down south" maybe you could find somewhere to relocate the hillbillies

  • You're not Hillbillies (and there's nothing wrong with them; any more than any other group). Pollution is negligible; can't be more than what comes out of most fireplaces. You're two people giving out some very useful information ~ granted, with a small ad ~ so what. LOVE the music you use. This information is very useful; thank you.

  • @Downfacingdog You go turn off ur computer then, nuclear plants are running making radioactive waste for you to post ur useless troll comments.

  • we all used standard paint cans hell I have the video somewhere......

  • the winner of that competition was a rocket that turned into what looked like a 15" or larger bic lighter flame
