Everytime you give your money to British Petroleum the richest woman on the planet gets even richer.
Queen Elizabeth Wettin from the family of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Windsor= BP

Chevron is just a horrible company - the same with Exxon. WHY would they fight such a (comparatively) small judgment, to the greater hardship of those whose lives they've already ruined. What horrible neighbors: Chevron, Texaco, Exxon....

@Nate8247 - True.

@Humptydumptytribe - Good description of Correa. It's not only environmental issues either, he's a real piece of work for sure. I read that his brother has a political movement going - to oust him. Says Rafael has betrayed the Citizens Revolution. Correa is a communist, his ties to FARC have been known for years by the Colombians & of course his constant sucking up to Chavez. The arrest of Pepe Acacho & the other leaders another example. The Chevron plan to not pay for cleanup is an outrage.

Money and profit are not the reason we live. If we forget this we will not survive much longer on this planet.

As a part-time resident of Ecuador and carless tree-hugging hippie, let me remind you: as much as I applaud the Ecuadorian court decision against Chevron, do not be misled by the "environmental president" of Ecuador, Rafael Correa. This two-faced snake in the grass, and the oil companies he oversees, have done as much or more than anyone to destroy the Ecuadorian Amazon and the people that live there than any of his predecessors. It's BAU in the Amazon, regardless of monkeys in the constitution.

Chevron should not only pay up, the executives & big bosses should go down there themselves & see it, volunteer to help down there too, then they'd understand what's been done down there by their predecessors. Everyone can make a difference.
