Ward Churchill is a self-loathing white man who needed a victim persona as an American Indian to justify his stand against colonization, imperialism, and genocide which is unfortunate considering he could have achieved the same goals as who he actually is and not some figment of his imagination. He's an extremely sad individual and I feel sorry for him.

@gonzopoet00 Excellent points.In Ward's case I think an academic psychologist would find his case very interesting to do research on. Here you have a man who has done extensive writing on people who have falsely claimed an Indian identity for selfish reasons and has called them out and their deeds and it's been revealed he's also a liar. Ward is a charlatan calling other charlatans, "charlatans". Really fucked up. I agree sarcasm really doesn't come across very well on postings.

@gonzopoet00 So why does a person who makes 'a compelling speech on the 60s" need to be Indian or a minority? You don't need to identify with a people you are writing on so much as to claim an ancestral kinship with the people in order to validate one's scholarship do you? There is a lot of excellent white scholars who have done great work on minorities and Indigenous people over the years. Just because the person is white does not invalidate the work. Ward's work is dead on on most topics.

@gonzopoet00 Sorry, you need to do some serious research into this man's false claims of Cherokee ancestry. Genealogy records show Ward has no single ancestor who was a Cherokee Ndn. Self-identification is total bullshit and only applies to people who can't prove Ndn ancestry. Ward is just another person in a historical long line of people claiming Ndn ancestry for whatever agenda they seem to have going at the time, i.e. Grey Owl, Jamake Highwater, Do some research.
