http://www.vernissage.tv | Bruce Naumans exhibition Topological Gardens, currently on view at the U.S. Pavilion in the Giardini at the 53rd Venice Biennale Biennale di Venezia Fare Mondi / Making Worlds, has won the Golden Lion for Best National Participation. The Biennale stated that Bruce Naumans work reveals the magic of meaning as it emerges through relentless repetition of language and form. Bruce Nauman: Topological Gardens presents a thematic survey comprising four decades of Bruce Naumans innovative and provocative work over three exhibition sites: the United States Pavilion at the Giardini della Biennale, Università Iuav di Venezia at Tolentini, and the Exhibition Spaces at Università Ca Foscari. In this video, we have a look at Bruce Naumans works at the United States Pavilion at the Giardini. La Biennale di Venezia 2009: Fare Mondi (Making Worlds). Professional Preview, June 4, 2009.

I was in Venice for the Biennial--specifically to see the Nauman exhibit and to take back material/imagery to teach/show my high school students. The U.S. Pavilion (and the other Nauman exhibits in the city of Venice) were the only places in the ENTIRE International exhibition where videography and photography were not allowed. You can imagine how bummed I was when I arrived at all three Nauman locations to do a little "field work" for my classes. Very elitist...
Hunfunny, you can say "Very elitist.." and I do feel sorry for you, but how could you be surprised? A lesson learned might be the best thing to bring back to your students! I'm an American art student living in London and I'm shocked to hear the inverse, that the others ALLOWED any photography at all ;>
I love this work. I've always thought that Bruce Nauman is one of the most innovative artists living today. IT's just so annoying watching people look at it.

I've been scolded a couple of times for taking photos at different places as well. It is quite annoying.
