linux is used more by developers/programmers and hackers since the operating system is open sourced it allow the user to change and modify it. It all depends on what your going to use the operating system for. Linix/Unix is also the Backbone operating system for the internet since most Government OC servers use it in conjuction with switches/routers and patch pannels

maybe for what your using it for. although ubuntu is not the best version of linux. unbuntu is a super tiny os made for use with a live cd(running he os from a CD). but still linux/unix is the most robust operating system on the market. you wont find it getting any viruses...
