Mordheim to me is a compelling story and unique universe I'd love to see explored in a film or three.
The story is all about the once prosperous city of Mordheim, a place of luxury and majesty but also depravation and vice. One fateful day a great ball of fire falls from the sky and devastates the city, burning a hole deep into the depths of the earth. Some claim it's divine Sigmar visiting his judgement upon Mordheim's depravity, but others know better. The fallen on is actually The Shadowlord, a dark god that's been cast from the heights and is gathering his strength in the dead city to prepare for a return to power. Even while his minions begin scouring the city for unwilling recruits, foolhardy explorers who penetrate the ruins of Mordheim discover strange green stones left behind by the dark god's fall. These Warpstone seem capable of anything; turning lead into gold, making people immortal, granting wishes, but all at a terrible price. This doesn't stop warbands from all over the empire to travel to the ruined city to gather these magical stones for their respective masters. These sell-swords include the fanatical Witch Hunters, the rotting undead led by vampire lords, the conniving rat-men called Skaven, the loathsome possessed, and the noble female warriors called the Sisters of Sigmar.
Now is the age of black powder and steel, of great dreams and dark passions, of mutants and monsters and men.
This is the tale of Mordheim.

The game is set in the same universe as the Warhammer miniature battle game, but instead of focusing on the massive wars for supremacy in great fields of honor, the entire game is set in one gigantic city, the Mordheim of the title. Likewise the scale of battle is paired down with warbands usually consisting of twelve to twenty units instead of the hundreds usually involved in Warhammer battles.
