@rmelancon1 The copper strap is a ground attachment point. If you plug the pump into a 2-prong outlet, or an incorrectly grounded (ungrounded) 3-prong outlet, you really need to use this strap. clamp a copper wire (14 ga or larger) and then run it to a good groud: a water pipe that leads to the ground outside your home (literally grounded).

Had a leaky motor unit on mine, and your video proved quite helpful in replacing the hose clamps and for the suggestion of using RTV sealant on the impeller housing joint; however, my leak was with the motor bearing and seal :(

My Softub is only getting up to 99 degrees.I've heard there are calibration controls in the control board that you can tweak to get it heating up to 102-103 degrees. Has anyone seen a DIY video on this subject? Thanks!

any chance of a follow up video? that would be great to know if your repair worked.
Nice video and helpful taking apart my motor! Question, Mine is leaking from the bottom stem part of the plastic impeller that covers the rusty metal shaft. The issue is I cannot get the impeller off. I accessed the other end where the electricl cord is and found the screw to stop the impeller from turning. I held the screw with vicegrips & then tried turning the impeller counterclockwise and it wont budge. Do you have any tips I can try without having to just break the impeller off? Thanks

@lasinne Sounds like the impeller seal is shot, the seal that separates the impeller housing from the shaft/outside. I had no need to remove the impeller, Some Hot tubs the impeller is removed by unscrewing the impeller in the opposite direction it spins. Some also have a snap ring to hold the impeller in place (so it cannot be unscrewed- you would need to remove the snap ring first). I would research more online and try and find a solution.

Great video...thank you! Do you have anything that addresses leaks in the tub itself? My Softub is leaking around the outer edge and it's flooding under my deck

@SatoriFarms I would get a jet removal tool, and check all your jets o-rings. They are cheap and one of them may be cracked and leaking. Also you can pull up the outside cover and see if water is between the liner and tub itself. If it is a hose inside the tub, you would need to seal it back up or go through the whole trouble of replacing the hose or jet housing. Whatever you do, it involves taking the outer cover off.

@RockTheHouse4 Wondering what that copper strap that looks like some kind of ground connects to? It is attached to the motor housing on one side and it has a set screw on the other but I can figure out what the set screw is supposed to connect to. Your looks like it isn't connected to anything either, did you disconnect it from something when you took the motor out of the housing.

@rmelancon1 I had the same thing, It was possibly a ground at one time. I just left it be, didn't have any problems.
