XS Jr. League Dodgeball Game Sample - Playstation

Well, XS butchers another game upon localization. Gunbird/Mobile Light Force, Sol Divide, etc. What did they do to this game you ask? Well, the game was originally an all-girl dodgeball game in Japan by the name of "Dodge De Ball!" that had numerous touchups and the like. XS watered things down, changed half the girls into guys with shoddily edited pictures and character sprites so as not to seem sexist I suppose, made the cover art look so lame that most folks won't get near it much less buy the game, removed some audio tunes (some which are nice...I'd know, they're still on the CD), took out the story and changed character names, and other things too! As far as XS localizations, I'd have to say this is one of the worst.

Otherwise, those familar with classics like Super Dodge Ball may find something to like here. The game has (while nothing impressive) nice, smooth graphics and good audio, and the gameplay is good, though kinda easy. The only tough thing is sometimes grabbing items can be a pain. Seriously, while one should appreciate localizations of games, the way XS tends to go about it really grinds my gears. They're like the Uwe Boll of game localizations. After doing such a poor job, they have the nerve to completely rename the game and slapped their blown-up logo all over the place! It's games like this that really make people get into importing...

Why should a sports game with girls\women only be sexist? WTF is XS thinking?

I mean women sports exist in real life, like women soccer, women volleyball, women basketball...you name it.

Anyways, this game looks good and I lol'ed at the ambulance sound.

But it probably can't beat the addiction Super Dodgeball has.

Its hard to tell just by looking at the game play, is this game actually fun to play?

geez no voice overs for the american release.. I guess the Japanese version is better :D
