On July 8, 2011 NASA's Space Shuttle Atlantis roared into the sky marking a sad moment in the history of America's space program......the end of the Space Shuttle era. Upon her landing America's Space Shuttle will officially be retired, designated to museums.

I was lucky enough to be present at the NASA press site to record Atlantis' final flight and while I was taking still photos I set up an HD camcorder on a tripod to record this historic moment on video.

After Atlantis goes off screen, watch how long it takes for the sound to reach me, and also you'll see the camcorder shake as the shockwave hits the camera from the roar (at the 44 second mark). It was awesome.
