    As great as this song is it wouldn't have been a hit without the Jackson 5 sample. Same thing with many hit hip hop songs, even today. Everything is built around a familiar old sample so you're like halfway there. I'm not calling it cheating cause how you use that sample can show your creativity or not, but coming up with your own melody would show real musical talent.
