This is the official trailer of Jafar Panahi's 2006 award-winning film "Offside".

Deals with reality of women's life in Iran's patriarchal society.

A group of women each attempted to get in the stadium to watch the live Iran-Bahrain World Cup qualifying match in Tehran but got busted and detained in a cordoned area at the back of the stadium. The story evolves there, between serious talks with the military trainees and the fun of listening to one of the military trainee who's watching the live match behind a rail and enthusiastically broadcasting what's happening on the field to the equally excited girls on the side who were not allowed to see the match.

The main reason is -- sporting events such as football is exclusively for the male population, women are not allowed...because of the "bad and foul words" during the games.

this was a very good very creative movie, in the technical sense. Using the actual event itself to film and the uses of location were brilliant from a filmmaking stand point.

i have the dvd! love this film so much, very interesting and entertaining! when their waiting on the final score- its like your right there with them, i was on the edge of my seat! brilliant!!!
