Cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Don - For a few years the Nellis show had an Air Race Demo. There was talk of trying to have a true air race event like at Reno somewhere in So Nevada but that never took. I doubt there will be any Thunder Mustangs there in 2009. Reno Will have some.
The plane in this video was destroyed in a take off accident in 2006. We are building another which may fly late in 2009.

Will they have a "mock" race again, or was that it?? I havent seen the TM fly since. Will it be there this year, (2009)? Don

That was us. We participated in the Air Race Demo at Aviation Nation at Nellis AFB.

I believe you mean "WITHOUT A DOUBT". The Thunder mustang has been the ultimate motivator for many home builders. A few years ago in Las Vegas, I saw a TM fly with the full size Mustangs, and It was great!! Don

With a doubt the finest Kit aircraft/ engine combo to fly. Yes, this is what dreams are made of!!
What are the requirements for the sport class? Can a piston-twin engined homebuilt also compete? Thanks, Don

The Sport Class Rules are that the plane must be a kit built aircraft with at least 5 delivered kits and an engine under 650 cubic inch displacement.
A new rule came out this year creating a "Super Sport" class with no delivered kit clause, maximum total engine displacement of 1000 cu in, and 300 mph minimum qualifying speed.
Under the new rules, a twin engined aircraft's COMBINED engine displacement must be under the specified limits (1000 cu in).
