The Winnebago County Sheriff's Department has released footage taken from a squad car that shows the condition of the Canadian National Railroad tracks just before the June 19, 2009, train derailment at South Mulford Road in Rockford.

A Sheriff's Department news release sent Friday, April 9, 2010, said the video was made public only because the National Transportation Safety Board authorized it. The NTSB is the lead agency investigating the accident.

The accident caused a fiery explosion during which Zoila Tellez, 41, of Rockford, was killed and at least nine other people were injured. Tellez's family has sued Canadian National Railroad.
