It is possible that what you are really trying to achieve in life is closer than you think. Here is a story by an unknown Author that helps put things in perspective.

  • Love the analogy.

So any plans on moving to Peru? Just asking? Peace

  • @123SGTTOPDAWG345 I have thought about it. Doesn't seem like the time to do so but sure seems like a possibility some day.

  • from watching you driving, looks like a grind, and you need to take off and go fishing NOW, as a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work

  • Unless you try to fish off the east coast of Canada. Not allowed. Only a short season for family man. Two months. The other 10 months reserved for off seas fishing ships that rapes everything in it's path. Under the name of conservation. BS all around the globe.

  • The BEST story I've ever heard. First I had a good laugh, and then I started thinking: what the hell am I doing all day working as an idiot. I have to go fishing RIGHT NOW.

  • @FinalNailer I see lots of Americans crossing my border for a better life, rejecting the all-business-all-the-time fraud model of hyper-resource-extraction. I'm Canadian.

  • Amazing perspective. Saved & recopied

  • Great story. Thanks MB73. So true.

  • Just make a careful observation of the condition of Mexico vs the Untied States and the standard of living this particular philosophy has produced for both countries. Make your own judgment as a result. Also ask yourself this , who is trying to to cross who's borders for a better life?

  • I suppose this is why the Founders of this once-great nation made no attempt to define "the pursuit of happiness" but rather accepted the concept that the goals one pursued were an individual choice, not to be dictated by others- and especially not the government.

I try to keep the perspective that the fundamental decisions guiding my life should be centered on one future event; the day I face my Creator and Savior and hear Him say, "Well done good and faithful servant."

  • Live well, ironic

  • @Pfsif It ended a long time ago-- we are simply facing-up to our collective shadow. I'm a simple carpenter, just like the fisherman. I come from a family tree that has 21 founding fathers. They taught me how to be free in a system where the freeman is not appreciated, but can live like the Mexican fisherman if one is wise enough to see how to do it. For me-- life is getting much better as things fall apart. I retired at age 26 and began "fishing"(metaphor).
