Skirting Inspection to get manufactured home ready for winter.
This video is a guide on how to inspect your skirting for winter, please remember this is for educational use only and we are not responsible for any damage that is caused by you using this video.
There are two types of skirting: Solid Panel and Center Vent also known as C-Vent
Be sure your home is up to code with the proper amount of C-vent panels; please see our blog for more information.
Inspect skirting to ensure it is secure what to look for is the back rail is secure to home and the top rail is snapped firmly in place. Inspect panels for damage, weed eater holes, and be sure the panels are snapped firmly together, should appear to be 1 solid panel for full length of home. Also to help prevent wind damage your panels should be crimped at the top and bottom to help secure them in place.
If there is damage caused by weed eater holes, This is a guard that can be placed at the bottom of your skirting to cover up any holes to protect from animals getting under your home along with preventing further damage. It is installed as follows: the guard snaps into bottom rail.
Inspect bottom rail to be sure it is securely fastened to the ground using 6" spikes. This will help prevent any wind or snow from pushing in on your skirting.
By using this inspection it will prevent animals from nesting underneath your home, frozen water lines caused by a cold draft and further damage by lawn care.
