I loved this movie when I was young, and I still do. Part of the reason why I like it so much is because it really happoned.

I'm sure there's a big difference between the real David Crockett who died at the Alamo, and the mythological legend, the one portrayed on television who was adapted for entertainment purposes; but I still love the legend and will never forget the show with Fess Parker, who I thought was the real Davy when I was a boy. On afterthought, I think he just had a good agent. bbbbbboB

,Congressman, Hunter, American all the stories about him "hiding ' /running ' etc etc are just leftist, anti-American Bullshit ,
The Mexicans have left tales of a " Roughly dressed American, wearing Buckskin Hunting jacket& leggins lying down on part of one of the rooves & sniping Mexican Artillery crews @ 300yds, " & when the end came ,fighting like a demon at the Pallisade area with 12 other men mostly Tennesseans" GOD BLESS DAVID CROCKETT , JIM BOWIE& WILLIAM TRAVIS . REMEMBER THE ALAMO

I can't think of better casting .. ever .. than in this instance of these great actors Fess & Buddy playing these fabulous characters. So too, was the Great Southern Bond forged here, in this case between Tenn & Texas, thanks to Davy & his boys at The Alamo.

"The home I have loved as a father his child." its strange for me a bit :).. i mean in europe if we had to say some similar about our home country, we have rather said the opposite "as a child his father/mother". anyway, it is interesting how different the relation between the home country and its citizens or..:) the citizens and their country in the old and the new world. i wouldnt be a good american, it would be very strange to me:)
Fess Parker (Davy Crockett) was my childhood hero, I'll never forget the endless days with my coonskin hat, battling injuns and bad guys, thank you Fess.
