Mr. Piper, who is like a chubby Canadian Pee Wee Herman with opera singing skills, hosts this "cartoon," which depicts a Princess prostituting herself to obtain a music box. At the end, she learns that this makes her a skank not worth marrying. If the animation was any more limited, it'd be a slideshow.

  • He killed himself didn't he? I remember this, had a parrot who said "Fiddle diddle here's a riddle" and a dull section called Ports of Call.

  • I don't know if he killed himself. Alan Crofoot was before my time, except that I dimly recall some reruns when I was little. All I know about him personally is what I've found on the internets. I like his show for some strange reason. Yes, the ports of call section was pretty dull. Besides these "cartoons," I've seen a few of those and a few of the talking animal bits.

  • Wow! Brilliant stuff! Such nostalgia. I use to love watching this, and yes, very few people, of that certain age seem to remember the program. Thanks for the memory. =o)

  • You're welcome. I think I saw a few reruns when I was a kid, but I'm not sure if I'm confusing them with another series. The cartoon segments have been showing up in various public domain DVD compilations of cartoons that they sell pretty cheap, which is how I knew it was okay to post these.

  • Blimey, this takes me back. When I mention Mr Piper to people of my age, they never seem to remember him. I'm amazed you have got this footage its brill. Do you have anything with the parrot on or his magic bag?

  • no, just some cartoons and a geography segment about shanghai or somewhere like that

  • glad I've found this, so thats for putting it up.

Thought I was the only one that remembered this. where's the parrot?

  • desperate for a copy - any chance?

  • It is quite catchy isn't it?

  • Singing this theme for some reason yesterday ! thanks for posting !

  • This is every bit as disturbing as it was in the 60's it used to make me cry - and I'm slmost crying now! there is just something scary about Mr Piper! lol!

  • There isn't much at all about this man online, I wouldn't have even known his real name if you guys hadn't mentioned it in previous posts. I wonder what his reason was for commiting suicide, if he had a family, ect ect.... he was obviously a great singer & hid his true emotions very well, just so sad : (

  • Mr Piper was a bit creepy.

I remember it from British TV in the 1960's.

  • I have full episodes on DVD, i bought them at wal-mart for $5.00. The video also contains Felix the cat, Popeye, Casper, and the original Tom and Jerry ( when they were humans ).

Maybe they still hae some more..... =P
