the problem with having alot of muscles is that they need fuel. and after you exert alot of energy, its hard to refuel all those muscles with oxygen , and since they still have adrenaline running high, their body will instinctivley fill their muscles with blood, which causes stamina problems and inability to exert the necessary energy to compete at a high level
