@bytedildo I disagree. When I introduce someone to Phish, well, first of all, it depends on the person's personality. If they like things that just rock, I put on Maze. If they like things that are different, I put on something like Reba or You Enjoy Myself.

I suppose Stash might be more "approachable" for a common consumer of pop music, but if you ask me, it just sounds kind of like Santana or something.

Keep in mind, I'm a phan myself.

Wow, apparently you've never ready any charts, or paid attention to album sales, Oscar ceremonies, the rock n' roll hall of fame, etc.

Phish was only overrated in the same way that any artist (e.g. MJ) is: always adoringly followed by its loyal fanbase, whose loyalty is so deep, they praise him with the kinds of words you see in these comments.

Despite your spelling errors, you raise good and valid points. I too am a big fan of Phish.

I feel though I must say, some people may not like Phish, and it's not necessarily because they misunderstand anything. Different people just like different music.

I do agree though that a lot of people do have misunderstandings about the band, such as the myth that Phish is an attempted Grateful Dead copycat. If anyone believes that,just read the intarwebs or watch Bittersweet Motel.
