Even if the 1 didn't pass and/or if the 1 could only be hit rail first at this angle (neither steep nor shallow, not too hard to judge), I fail to see a sensible reason to give this back - IF the player cares about the outcome of this particular game.
I was at this tournament sitting about six feet down below the bottom left pocket. Dennis Orcullo was pissed and stormed off after seeing the one ball shot given back. From where I was sitting, I couldn't tell if it passed or not. I am pretty sure they were then down to 3 players after James Walden was knocked out. Dennis probably felt they were colluding.
the sad part is the terrible kick at the one ball...on a bar box no less

If they're trapping him it's really sad. While other sports rip off the world for billions pool-players screw each-other for nickels and dimes.

Why did he give him the shot back? // I don't blame Dennis... I would've concluded they were working together.

You guys have to know the story behind the shot...there was a 3rd shooter in this ring game who unscrewed his cue after the 1 ball was pocketed.
